The course is recognised as one of Yorkshire's top 30 golf courses, featuring spectacular scenery throughout the round. The 13th tee provides particularly renowned views across the moors, while the course also offers distant panoramic vistas of the Yorkshire Wolds and Hambleton Hills.
The course is characterized by immaculate fairways and fast, undulating greens that present a demanding test of play. The design creates an engaging challenge across varying terrain typical of the moorland setting. The modern clubhouse, opened in 1998 by Ryder Cup Captain Bernhard Gallagher, overlooks the 1st hole and 18th fairway, providing elevated views of the course layout.
The course has received notable recognition, being named number 26 in Bunkered Magazine's Top 50 UK Courses Under £50 a round and featuring in Golf World's Top 100 GB&I courses under £40 a round.
