Course Information

United States
Architect: Arnold Palmer
Originally designed by Francis Duane and Arnold Palmer and opening in 1973 as the North Course, King's North was reimagined by Palmer in 1995-1996. The course features an 18-hole par-72 layout with a rating of 72.6 and slope of 136. Set among Carolina pines and scenic lakes, it blends natural beauty with strategic play. Following a two-year renovation led by architect Brandon Johnson, the course's back nine reopened in October 2025, completing a full transformation that began with the front nine in 2024.
The par-3 12th hole features an island green framed by bunkers shaped like South Carolina, while the par-5 6th hole, called "The Gambler," is an iconic risk-reward hole that dares players to choose between a conservative route or a bold line to an island fairway. King's North has been ranked among America's 100 Greatest Public Courses by Golf Digest. Recent renovations included rebuilt and expanded greens with TifEagle bermudagrass, reshaped bunkers with advanced liners and premium sand, and softened green surrounds to invite more creativity.
