James Baird State Park Golf Course is an 18-hole course designed by nationally renowned golf architect Robert Trent Jones. Officially opened in 1948, the course is situated on 590 acres of farmland in Pleasant Valley, New York, once owned by contractor and engineer James Baird, who donated the land to New York State in 1939.

The course features a scenic, relatively flat layout characteristic of Jones's design philosophy. Hole 4 stands out as the only Par 5 on the front nine, presenting significant challenges with out-of-bounds markers along the right side and strategically placed bunkers that demand precise shot placement. Deep bunkers on the front left of the green and along the right edge create demanding approach shots.

The landscape offers open and wooded terrain ideal for golf. Beyond the 18-hole course, the facility includes a driving range, pro shop, and clubhouse with snack bars at the 1st and 10th holes. The park also features seven miles of scenic wooded trails suitable for hiking in summer and cross-country skiing in winter, plus picnic areas and recreational facilities including courts for basketball, tennis, volleyball, and pickleball.
