Il Pelagone

Course Information

Address:
Toscana
Italy

Located in the green hills of the Tuscan Maremma near Gavorrano, Il Pelagone is an 18-hole championship golf course with a par of 71. Designed by British architect Keith Preston and established in 1999, the course is set among olive groves and towering cypress trees. It was recognized as one of the ten best new golf courses in Italy in 2003 and meets international standards for play. The layout is characterized by a pleasantly hilly terrain that demands accurate play rather than length. The course features numerous water hazards, strategically placed rough areas, and several out-of-bounds sections that penalize mistakes. The greens are known for their multiple breaks and complex curves, requiring significant concentration and adaptability from golfers. A signature feature of the course is the 18th hole, which offers panoramic views of the island of Elba and the Tyrrhenian Sea. The facility includes a professional golf school, a driving range with 300 meters of width, and extensive practice areas including putting greens and bunkers. The course regularly hosts professional and amateur tournaments, including the Faldo Series Italian Championship.
