Ibaraki Golf Club is located in Tsukubamirai City, Ibaraki Prefecture, and features a strategic 36-hole layout divided into an East Course and a West Course. The East Course measures 7,336 yards with a par of 72 and features a single Bentgrass green. It is characterized by significant length, with multiple demanding par-4s including the 3rd, 5th, 8th, 10th, 14th, and 16th holes that require long iron approaches for amateurs to reach the green in two shots. The par-3 holes on this course are also notably long, creating a challenge that rewards powerful driving and precise approach play. The West Course offers a contrasting experience at 7,120 yards and par 72, utilizing A and B Bentgrass greens. The terrain is flat, creating a box-garden aesthetic that contrasts with the strategic demands of the layout. This course is defined by frequent water hazards requiring carries over ponds, which keeps players under constant tension. While the wide fairways may appeal to amateur golfers, the scarcity of easy two-on opportunities for professionals and the need for strategic course management make it a rigorous test that has historically kept scoring low in tournament play. The facility has a robust history of hosting major professional events. It served as the venue for the 78th Japan Open Golf Championship in 2013 and the 14th Japan Senior Open Golf Championship in 2004. The course is also the long-time host of the World Ladies Championship Salonpas Cup, which has been played here annually since 2009, alternating between the East and West courses. Other significant tournaments held at the club include the U.S. Open Championship Final Qualifying, various Japan Open sectional and final qualifying events, and the PGA Handa Cup Philanthropy Senior Tournament.
