Founded in 1959, Hoover Country Club is a private, member-owned facility in the Birmingham area offering an 18-hole championship golf course alongside tennis, aquatics, and dining amenities. The golf course, originally designed by W. Bancroft Timmons and George Cobb, was redesigned by Bill Bergin in 2010. Stretching 6,900 yards, the course features Patton Creek meandering through the layout, creating a fair yet challenging test for golfers of all abilities. The design emphasizes right-to-left shot patterns, though working the ball both ways is required for success. Undulating bent grass greens are surrounded by deep collection areas that test short-game skills. The walkable, well-maintained course accommodates players of varying abilities while maintaining championship-level difficulty. The facility emphasizes its role as a community hub, combining competitive golf with recreational and social opportunities for member families.
