Designed by renowned architect Seizo Tomizawa, the course features 27 holes divided into three nines: Izumi, Yamasato, and Miyama. Set across an expansive 520,000-tsubo property, the layout seamlessly integrates with the dramatic natural landscape of the Zao mountain range.

The course is situated in a region renowned for hot springs, including Akiu and Togatta onsen, allowing players to experience seasonal beauty throughout the year. The design emphasizes the interplay between the rugged terrain and carefully crafted fairways, creating a challenging yet scenic playing experience. The mountainous setting provides commanding views and variable elevation changes that characterize the holes.

Recognized as one of Tohoku's most beautiful golf courses, Higashizao offers a complete resort experience combining championship-level golf with the region's natural splendor. Located approximately 50 minutes from Sendai International Airport, the course attracts both domestic and international visitors seeking a distinctive Japanese golf destination.
