Hanover Country Club is an 18-hole championship golf course established in 1923 during the golden era of American golf. Located in Abbottstown, Pennsylvania, the course features 6,505 yards with a par of 71 and a course rating of 72.6 with a slope rating of 132. Designed by J.W. Gitt, who incorporated design elements from legendary clubs including Pine Valley, Oakmont, and Augusta, the course was developed on a former horse farm with open meadows and rich soil that provided an ideal foundation for the layout.
The course is characterized by tight tree-lined fairways, small and fast undulating greens, strategically placed greenside bunkers, and moguls that create a challenging and mature golf venue. The founding members of the club included individuals who were members of some of the most prestigious golf clubs of the era, establishing Hanover as a premier golf destination from its inception. Beyond the golf course, the private family-oriented club offers amenities including a swimming pool, tennis courts, bocce ball facilities, and dining options, serving as a comprehensive country club experience for its members since 1923.
