Gunnedah Golf Club is an 18-hole, par 70 bent green course located in Northwest New South Wales near the New England Highway. The course features a flat layout with watered Kikuyu fairways, tees, and greens, set within a residential area abundant with trees that attract various bird species and occasionally koalas.
The course was established in 1920 at the Recreation Ground within the Showground and Racecourse area, originally known as "Bacon's Paddock" with sand greens. The first nine holes opened for play in 1937, with holes 10-18 designed by Arthur East and completed in 1953. The course transitioned from sand to grass greens between 1964 and 1966. A notable water feature, a dam, was added to the 4th hole in 1970.
The club maintains an excellent reputation for quality golf in the region and offers a full-time professional, equipment and cart hire, and comprehensive clubhouse facilities including dining and function rooms. The course presents moderate difficulty with its tree-lined fairways providing both aesthetic appeal and strategic challenge.
