Great Torrington Golf Club is a 9-hole heathland/parkland course located in rural North Devon, seven miles from Westward Ho! beach. Founded in 1895 and relocated to its present site on Furzebeam Hill at Weare Trees in 1932, the course occupies 26 acres within Torrington Commons.
Measuring 4,458 yards from the back tees for 18 holes, the course is not championship length but offers a fair test for golfers of all abilities. The triangular layout features well-drained fairways, tightly mown heathland turf, and challenging green complexes over pleasantly sloping terrain. The course design reflects traditional British golf, providing a unique golfing experience.
The club is member-owned and managed, welcoming both members and visitors. The clubhouse features an upstairs bar and restaurant with a covered spike bar area serving beverages and meals. Great Torrington Golf Club was awarded Junior Club of the Year 2022 by the Golf Foundation, reflecting its commitment to junior development and inclusive membership.
