The Golf- und Land-Club St. Lorenz is located in Schöningen, situated directly adjacent to the historic St. Lorenz monastery estate. The course is set on gently rolling terrain above the town, bordering the Elm Forest. This positioning provides views toward Saxony-Anhalt and the Harz mountains. The facility is integrated into the old monastery grounds, which feature a cobblestone courtyard and park-like gardens. The main layout currently consists of 11 holes. The club is in the process of expanding the facility to an 18-hole course. In 2022, a new 9-hole short course and a dedicated training area were opened. The driving range and a pitching, chipping, and putting green are also available for practice. The course design takes advantage of the natural landscape, with fairways running through the wooded areas near the Elm Forest. The historic buildings of the estate house the clubhouse, restaurant, and guest rooms. The grounds also include a fenced animal enclosure featuring alpacas and other species. Play is conducted via reservation systems, and the club maintains active teams that participate in various tournaments. The facility caters to both competitive play and learning, with instruction available through the club's golf school.
