Course Information

Address:
West-Vlaanderen
Belgium

Located in Hollebeke near the historic city of Ypres, Golf & Countryclub De Palingbeek occupies 85 hectares of rolling, hilly terrain adjacent to the largest provincial domain in West Flanders. The course was designed by Harold J. Baker, a professional top player for over thirty years and a respected architect who believed golf courses should be naturally integrated into their surroundings. The facility features an 18-hole Championship Course and a 5-hole Compact Course, complemented by a putting green, a short game area, and a state-of-the-art driving range equipped with 16 Toptracer bays. The Championship Course plays to a par of 72 and offers multiple tee options to accommodate various skill levels. The longest tees stretch to 6,125 meters, while shorter options reduce the length to 5,658 meters, 5,271 meters, and 4,943 meters. The course is GEO Certified and has achieved the maximum three-star rating in the Kompas Duurzaamheid sustainability initiative, reflecting its commitment to environmental stewardship and natural integration. The layout presents a broad range of challenges for players of all levels, with internal out-of-bounds rules applying to specific holes. Notable local rules include the prohibition of play in environmentally sensitive areas marked by blue poles with green tops, which protect wild orchids. The course also features winter greens and drainage trenches where specific relief rules apply, requiring players to navigate complex terrain conditions that test accuracy and strategy throughout the round.
