Golf Club Metaponto is an 18-hole championship course located in the Metaponto countryside of Basilicata, Italy, designed by architect Marco Croze. The course measures 6,284 meters with a par of 72 and a Slope Rating of 130. It is set within an 80-acre farm that features a mix of citrus groves and olive trees, with the club house housed in a refurbished nineteenth-century Lucanian farmhouse. The layout is described as open with wide fairways and undulating greens, interspersed with bunkers and ponds to provide challenge. The course features notable holes that test various aspects of a golfer's game. The seventh hole is a 450-meter par 5 that plays alongside a large lake bordering the fairway up to the green. The fourteenth hole is a 375-meter par 4 dogleg right, where the second shot is played downhill, with a channel protecting the entrance to the green. The facility also includes a large driving range, a pitching area, and a putting green. Metaponto Golf Club was established in 2000 by Angelo Zella, the president of Riva dei Tessali, the oldest golf club in Southern Italy. The club has a history of hosting the Italian Tessali Metaponto Open of Puglia and Basilicata, a significant sporting event in the region. The setting combines sport with the natural landscape of the Lucanian farm, offering a distinct environment for play.
