Nestled in the mountains of Minamino, Gifu Prefecture, Hiyoshi Highland Club is a 6,520-yard, par-72 course situated at an elevation of approximately 500 meters. Opened in 1969, the layout is defined by its integration into the surrounding forest, with the fairways winding through natural terrain that features subtle undulations and limited flat surfaces. The design prioritizes the existing landscape, resulting in a course where trees have grown significantly over the decades, often obscuring views of the greens and demanding precise directional control over raw distance. The course is divided into an out and in nine, with the front nine offering a mix of par fours and a demanding par three on the fourth hole. The back nine presents longer challenges, highlighted by the 500-yard 18th hole. The greens are a blend of Bentgrass and Korai grass, providing a firm and fast playing surface that rewards accurate approach shots. The difficulty is heightened by the dense tree cover, which requires strategic shot placement rather than power, making accuracy the primary key to scoring well. Notable features include the views of Mount Takane from the 5th and 13th holes, which provide a visual break from the enclosed forest atmosphere. The club also maintains a reputation for hosting regular internal competitions, such as the Monthly Cup and the Chairman's Cup, which are listed in its annual event calendar. The facility includes a clubhouse with a restaurant and a shop with a thatched roof, contributing to a traditional, homey atmosphere that has characterized the club since its inception.
