Sasayama Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 course located in Asahi, Tamba-Sasayama City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. Situated on a hilly terrain covering 1.56 million square meters, the course opened on May 5, 1980. The layout was designed by Toshisuke Kato, with basic design work by J.E. Crane. The course measures 6,703 yards from the back tees and 6,423 yards from the regular tees, with a JGA course rating of 70.4 for men and 74.6 for women from the front tees. The course is characterized by its strategic design, where each hole is completely separated by dense tree lines, creating a secluded and volume-rich environment. The front nine measures 3,316 yards from the regular tees, while the back nine measures 3,107 yards. The layout includes a mix of par 3, 4, and 5 holes, with handicap indices distributed to challenge various skill levels. The course is an all-self-play facility that utilizes riding carts, with no cart access allowed on the fairways. Notable holes include the first, a 376-yard par 4 that requires a tee shot from the left hillside to the right side, with a grass bunker guarding the front of the green. The fifth hole, a 534-yard par 5, demands a leftward tee shot and a second shot toward the hillside, with two grass bunkers protecting the green approach. The closing 18th hole is a 386-yard par 4 where the tee shot tends to drift right, requiring precision to find the left side, while the three-tiered green plays faster from the back. The course also features a 200-yard driving range with 18 bays, as well as separate practice areas for approach, bunker, and putting shots.
