Located in Tamba-Sasayama City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan Village Golf Club is a 27-hole facility designed by renowned architect Yuichi Kobayashi. The course is divided into three distinct nine-hole loops: the East, West, and South courses. Each nine totals 108 yards and 54 par, creating a full 54-par layout with a combined yardage of approximately 10,212 yards from the back tees. The design emphasizes a challenging experience for golfers of all levels, utilizing the natural topography to create varied playing conditions. The terrain features a mix of uphill and downhill holes, with several fairways described as slightly sloping or doglegging. The East Course includes a demanding par-3 fourth hole that plays uphill with a water hazard guarding the front left, while the West Course features a scenic par-5 fourth hole that plays slightly downhill with a dogleg left. The South Course offers a long par-4 seventh hole that demands both distance and accuracy on a flat, straight fairway. Water hazards, including creeks and ponds, are strategically placed on holes such as the third and sixth of the East Course and the second of the South Course, requiring precise shot placement. Key characteristics of the layout include undulating fairways and greens that reward thoughtful strategy over brute force. The East Course’s first hole is a downhill par-4 that offers a clear view and encourages aggressive play, whereas the West Course’s second hole requires a center approach to avoid a pond on the right. The South Course’s third hole plays uphill with a creek running through the center of the fairway, penalizing drives that go too far. The facility is noted for its natural setting, with views of the surrounding landscape and the historic "Land of History" region influencing the course's romantic and spirited atmosphere.
