Mission Valley Golf Club is a championship-caliber course located in Otake, Kogo District, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. The facility sits on relatively flat terrain that incorporates the natural characteristics of the approximately 80,000-square-meter Kohara Pond. The course is designed to accommodate international competition standards, offering a layout that balances accessibility for beginners with significant strategic challenges for advanced players. The 18-hole layout plays to a par 72, with a total yardage of 6,910 yards from the back tees. The front nine totals 3,555 yards, while the back nine measures 3,355 yards. The course features multiple tee boxes to accommodate different skill levels, including back, front, and ladies' tees. The design emphasizes strategic shot placement, requiring accurate ball positioning on every hole to manage hazards and optimize scoring opportunities. Key strategic elements define the course's difficulty. The 14th hole, a 494-yard par 5, presents a water hazard on the left side of the fairway, offering a risk-reward scenario for birdie attempts. The closing stretch is particularly notable, with the 17th hole requiring a tee shot over water. The 18th hole, a 552-yard par 5, serves as a dramatic finish where players must decide whether to drive the green-side water hazard for an easier third shot or play it safe. The course also features several par-3 holes that demand precise distance control, including the 12th hole, which is noted for requiring accurate yardage judgment despite its short distance. Bunkers and water hazards are strategically placed throughout the layout to challenge various aspects of a golfer's game. The 3rd hole features bunkers guarding the front and sides of the green, while the 6th hole contains a deep bunker on the left side of the fairway. The 16th hole is a downhill par 4 that requires avoidance of water and bunkers on the left side. The course design allows for multiple approaches to each hole, with conservative and aggressive strategies available depending on the player's preference and current form.
