Fort Myers Country Club, nestled along the historic palm-lined McGregor Boulevard, is one of Florida's oldest and most storied golf courses. Opened in 1917 and designed by legendary architect Donald Ross a year earlier, the course represents a significant chapter in American golf history. Located just one mile from the Edison and Ford Winter Estates, the club attracted notable players including Thomas Edison and Henry Ford during the 1920s.
The course plays to a par 72 layout with four sets of tee markers accommodating various skill levels. The blue tees stretch 6,772 yards for advanced players (handicap 0-10), while white tees measure 6,226 yards for members and guests. Senior golfers typically play the gold tees at 5,568 yards, and the ladies' tees measure 5,116 yards. The course features a classic Donald Ross design characteristic of the era, offering traditional golf challenges across its full 18-hole layout.
Set in an urban landscape within Fort Myers proper, the course provides an accessible golf experience with professional instruction available from PGA-certified instructors. The facility also offers alternative play through FlingGolf, using a specialized FlingStick, attracting players of varying abilities and ages to the historic course.
