Erinvale Golf Club is an 18-hole, par 72 course designed by legendary Gary Player and officially opened on May 27, 1995. Located on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountain overlooking Somerset West, the course sits amongst wine estates and fruit farms close to Cape Town. The course features two distinctly different nines: the front nine is flat with plenty of water hazards, while the back nine traverses the Helderberg slopes with views of the False Bay coastline. The par 3 signature hole features the Helderberg Mountain as a backdrop and is noted as one of the easiest par 3s on the course despite being the lowest-rated.

The course is widely considered a golfing gem that tests the best golfers in the world while providing enjoyment to amateurs of all skill levels. The design features varied bunkering throughout, including Scottish-style pot bunkers, railway-sleepered bunkers, and deep revetted bunkers. The demanding front nine meanders through parklike terrain while the back nine winds through mountain foothills with panoramic views of False Bay.

The course hosted the 1996 World Cup of Golf where 32 nations competed and it won by Ernie Els and Wayne Westner, and also hosted the 2003 and 2004 South African Opens, both won by Trevor Immelman.
