East Orange Golf Course is an 18-hole course designed by Tom Bendelow and opened in 1926. Located in the scenic Short Hills area, the course is owned and operated by the City of East Orange and is located in the Township of Millburn. From the longest tees it offers 5,690 yards of golf for a par of 70, with a course rating of 67.1 and a slope rating of 120.
The par-70 layout features three sets of tee markers that enable play from as short as 4,725 yards and as long as 5,687 yards. There are no water hazards on the property and just a few sand traps to help defend par. The course is a short and fun layout with no houses around, and is well suited for novices, families, and anyone looking for a shorter test that is quite relaxing.
A much-needed renovation in 2015 performed by Stephen Kay revitalized, modernized and improved the playing field while retaining its vintage feel. The project included the construction of two new golf holes, as well as a new practice area, driving range, and new putting green. Bendelow was an architect renowned for making golf accessible and affordable for the public.
