East Framlingham Golf Club is located on the Ellerslie-Framlingham Road northeast of Warrnambool. This challenging course, planned in a tranquil setting along the banks of the Hopkins River, is mainly flat with well grassed, tree-lined fairways and manicured grass greens. The 9-hole course has a par of 68 and measures 4,607 yards. It is a natural habitat for native fauna, especially koalas and an abundance of birdlife. Notable features include the par-four fifth hole which hugs the Hopkins River at the low point of the course, and the par-five seventh hole which requires a blind drive over a hill covered in bluestones. The club traces its origins to the 1920s when returned World War I servicemen began hitting balls on what was then farmland, and the course eventually developed as local farmers lent paddocks.
