Eagle Springs Golf Resort is a historic 9-hole public course located in Eagle, Wisconsin, conveniently positioned between Chicago, Milwaukee, and Madison. Founded in 1893 by Irish immigrants John and Mary Tuohy, it stands as Wisconsin's oldest family-owned golf course and ranks among the first 100 clubs established in the United States according to the USGA. The course was ranked 23rd in Golf Magazine's list of the 50 best 9-hole courses in the world.
Originally designed as an 18-hole layout, Eagle Springs was reduced to nine holes following the Great Depression. Despite this reduction, the course maintains distinctive character and charm. The resort is now in its sixth generation of family ownership under Anne and Matt Krug.
Eagle Springs offers a unique golfing experience with quirky design elements that distinguish it from contemporary courses. The facility functions as a full resort, hosting various tournaments and special events throughout the year while providing lodging amenities for guests. Its longevity and continued operation as a family-owned venue make it a notable fixture in American golf history.
