Douglas Water Golf Club is a 9-hole golf course established in 1922, located in Rigside, South Lanarkshire, approximately five miles from Lanark and adjacent to the M74 motorway. Set on a hill above Douglas Water, a tributary of the River Clyde from which the course takes its name, the course features an undulating layout with plateau greens and measures 5,902 yards at par 72 when played as an 18-hole round using double tees.
The course presents a moderate challenge suitable for golfers of all abilities, characterized by small greens and notable elevation changes. The terrain comprises heathland typical of the South Lanarkshire countryside. The club is accessible from the M74 motorway services at Happendon, making it a convenient stop for travelers. The course was refurbished with an extended layout and new clubhouse in 1981 following a challenging period during the 1960s when local pit closures affected the club.
Douglas Water operates on an honor system for green fees with modest rates. The course is closed to visitors on Saturdays due to club competitions. Its location near the village of Douglas and attractions such as New Lanark makes it popular with visitors exploring the region.
