Deepdale Golf Club

Course Information Unclaimed

Deepdale Golf Club is a private golf club in Manhasset, New York, just east of New York City on Long Island. The club was founded by William K. Vanderbilt II in 1924 using part of his Deepdale summer estate at Lake Success, with Charles B. Macdonald designing the course assisted by Seth Raynor. In the 1950s, the Long Island Expressway was built cutting through the north end of the course, prompting the club to purchase a nearby estate and have Dick Wilson design a new course.

The course today is 6,623 yards from its longest tees with a par value of 70 and a slope of 135. The tree-lined fairways feature many tight and sharply doglegged holes leading to famously fast, heavily contoured greens, with prominent holes including the 415-yard 8th, 450-yard 11th, and 425-yard 15th, all playing to raised greens protected by sand. Notable members in the past included the Duke of Windsor and President Dwight D. Eisenhower. As of 2006 the course was rated 36 in the list of America's "100 Most Prestigious Golf Clubs" published by Golf Connoisseur magazine.
