Crystal Lake Country Club is an 18-hole private golf course established in 1922 in Crystal Lake, Illinois. The course was designed by O'Neil, Roseman & Croke, with subsequent renovations by Bob Lohmann and Dick Nugent. It features six sets of tees with yardages ranging from 5,400 to 6,800 yards. From the Blue tees, the course has a rating of 73.1 with a slope of 138, while the Red tees are rated 72.4 with a slope of 131. The course is known for its excellent maintenance and impeccably manicured conditions.
Situated in the heart of Crystal Lake, the course is characterized as a parkland-style layout with mature trees lining its fairways. It features 135 acres of tree-lined fairways with small, undulating Bentgrass greens and tees. Extensive bunkering surrounds most of the greens, creating a challenging approach shot requirement. The course is open year-round for play, weather permitting, and offers facilities including a driving range, short game area, and practice putting green.
The course presents challenges suitable for players of all skill levels. While modest in length at approximately 6,800 yards from the tips, the combination of small green complexes and strategic bunkering contributes to its elevated slope and rating. The club maintains membership-based access and is recognized for some of the finest course conditions in the region.
