Course A at Real Novo Sancti Petri Golf Club, officially known as the "Mar y Pinos" (Sea and Pines) course, is an 18-hole par 72 championship course designed by legendary Spanish golfer Severiano Ballesteros and opened in 1990. Located in Chiclana de la Frontera, Cadiz, on the Costa de la Luz in Andalusia, the course stretches 6,460 meters and features two distinct sections: the first nine holes run along the Atlantic coastline with generous fairways and water hazards, while the back nine traverse mature pine forests with challenging terrain among dense vegetation.
The course is characterized by undulating fairways, stepped greens, and strategic bunker placement that demand precision from players of all levels. The 6th hole, the signature hole of the resort, offers spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and beach from the green. Water hazards and abundant indigenous flora including pine trees, cork oaks, mastic trees, and olive trees define much of the layout. The course opened as part of the original 27-hole complex and remains one of the finest designs on the Costa de la Luz.
As the first course designed in Spain by Ballesteros, Novo Sancti Petri gained international recognition and has hosted prestigious tournaments on the European golf circuit. The course is part of Real Novo Sancti Petri Golf Club, which expanded to 54 total holes and now includes a Golf Academy, practice facilities with over 150 training spaces, and additional amenities. The club received its Royal designation in 2016, reflecting its status among Europe's most prestigious golf courses.
