The course started as Coco Beach Golf & Country Club with the initial 18-holes opening in the Spring of 2004 and the second layout following two years later. Designed by PGA Tour professional Tom Kite, the unique 36-hole course brings a dynamic golfing experience. The course offers four very diverse nines: Mountain, Ocean, Lakes and Palms, each catering to golfers of all abilities, all featuring seashore paspalum grass, white silica sand bunkers and challenging water hazards. The best view on the course comes at the 12th hole where the ocean and beach act as a backdrop to the green.
Coco Beach Championship Course is the host of the PGA Tour Puerto Rico Open each March and is the only PGA Tour event that has been played in Puerto Rico. The Mountain circuit, which comprises the front nine of the International course, enjoys substantial elevation changes and many golfers believe this to be the best of the four 9-hole loops on the property. The property encompasses 1,000 acres and includes a 46,000-square-foot clubhouse with dining and event facilities.
