The Club zur Vahr golf facility in Garlstedt is an 18-hole course set within the Garlstedter Heide landscape. Construction of the golf layout began in 1961, with the first nine holes opening for play in July 1962 and the full eighteen-hole course becoming available in 1963. The course is situated in a natural setting that the club highlights for its immersion in nature. The club has a history of hosting significant international competitions. In 1971, the venue hosted the German Open Championships, which attracted 189 entries from 23 different nations. Two years later, in 1973, the course was the site of the International Amateur Championships, won by A. Vester from South Africa. The facility also includes a driving range with a ball machine.
