Clongowes Wood Golf Course is a nine-hole parkland course accredited by the Golfing Union of Ireland. Located on the grounds of Clongowes Wood College in County Kildare, the course was established in its current form in 1966, designed by renowned golf architect Eddie Hackett. Originally, Hackett had proposed an 18-hole layout on both sides of the front avenue, but this plan was rejected due to agricultural land requirements.
The course occupies land that was originally considered for a larger championship layout. Fr Ray Lawler and Mr Eddie O'Donnell were instrumental in the course's early development, with support from Fr Jack Brennan and Fr Frank Frewen. The nine-hole track provides an accessible facility suitable for both experienced golfers and novices, set within an excellent parkland environment on the college estate.
The course hosts regular competitions and serves as a venue for the Prendiville Plate, an annual match between Past and Present players established in 1978. While specific hole-by-hole details and exact par information are not provided in available sources, the course remains an integral part of Clongowes Wood College's sporting facilities and has maintained its role in developing junior golf talent through school competitions.
