Originally designed by Gene Hamm and re-designed in 1999 by John LaFoy, the course features 18 distinctive holes with challenging hills, valleys, creeks and ponds surrounded by a peaceful neighborhood. The course measures 6,752 yards from the longest tees with a par of 72, a course rating of 72.2, and a slope rating of 130. Located in the heart of The Oaks neighborhood in Chapel Hill, the club is situated just minutes from Meadowmont, Glen Lennox, and the Blue Hill District.
The 18-hole championship course takes golfers through subtle rolling hills, beautiful mature trees including many burr oaks, with undulating topography, tree-lined fairways and target-type greens. The greens were replaced with Champion Bermuda grass in 2017. The monstrously-long par 5 on number 17 perennially attracts scores of golfers looking for a friendly challenge.
Founded in 1922, Chapel Hill Country Club continues its legacy as a premier private facility. Golf members have open access to practice putting and chipping greens, a practice bunker, and driving range with both grass and mat tees.
