Cedar Point Club is a 27-hole premier private club located at the confluence of the Nansemond and James Rivers in Suffolk, Virginia. Established in 1964, the 7,100-yard, 18-hole golf course was renovated in 2004 by Virginia-based renowned course architect Tom Clark and features TifSport Bermuda tees and fairways, drought- and heat-resistant A1/A4 bent grass greens, and newly constructed bunkers, creating superb course conditions year-round. The course features 7,100 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 73.4 and it has a slope rating of 127 on Bermuda grass.
The creative use of fairway bunkering and dog legs made the tee ball an interesting component of Cedar Point. The cross bunker on hole four was a particularly well placed challenging the golfer for a considerably shorter approach. A few well placed ponds and green side bunkers also made accurate approach shots a necessity. Cedar Point Club is located at the confluence of the Nansemond and James Rivers in Suffolk, Virginia. The Civil War ironclads, Monitor and Merrimac, battled in the waters of Hampton Roads just outside the clubhouse windows.
Cedar Point has hosted four Virginia State Golf Association (VSGA) Men's State Amateur Championships (1975, 1982, 2009, 2022) and hosted the 2023 VSGA Women's Amateur. A first class 9 hole par 3 course presents some of the most spectacular vistas in the entire Tidewater area.
