Located in Chikushino, Fukuoka, Chikushino Country Club is an 18-hole, par-72 course designed by Toshuyuki Miyoshi, a prominent figure in Japanese amateur golf known for his three consecutive wins at the Japanese Amateur Championship. Opened in November 1974, the course is set across gentle hills that provide a varied terrain, balancing wide, flat fairways with strategic elevation changes. The design philosophy emphasizes the use of all fourteen clubs in a golfer's bag, requiring players to make distinct strategic choices on every shot to navigate the undulating landscape effectively. The layout features a mix of doglegs, uphill and downhill shots, and water hazards that test a player's versatility. The front nine includes a demanding par-5 first hole, a long downhill shot where the fairway slopes sharply to the right, and a challenging par-4 eighth hole that requires a carry over water. The back nine introduces the course's signature hole, the 1,300-yard 13th, a par-5 dogleg right known locally as the "Eel Bed." This hole features a dramatic tee shot over a valley toward a V-shaped fairway zone, followed by a second shot that must avoid dense woods on the left. Green complexes are maintained with bentgrass, offering a playing surface that demands precise touch and strategic approach play. Several holes feature tiered greens or blind shots, such as the fourth hole’s two-tiered green and the 12th hole’s valley-crossing approach. The course is equipped with a practice facility featuring 11 bays at 200 yards and a clubhouse that includes a pro shop, a restaurant with views of the course, and a competition room. The facility is managed by Nishinippon Development Co., Ltd., and is a member of both the Japan Golf Association and the Golf Union of Kyushu.
