Situated on the hills of Hayama in Kanagawa Prefecture, Hayama International Country Club is a 36-hole facility located approximately 50 minutes by car from Tokyo. The course is divided into two distinct 18-hole layouts: the Diamond Course and the Emerald Course. The property sits on elevated terrain offering panoramic views of Tokyo Bay, the Boso Peninsula, and the mountain ranges of Mount Fuji, Hakone, and Izu. The Diamond Course, completed in 1972, was designed by Kozo Yasuda and Yuiji Koitera. It is characterized by significant elevation changes and is described as a course where powerful shots can be enjoyed. The layout features a mix of tee shots, including the notable fourth hole, a par-4 downhill shot that provides views of Yokosuka City and the bay. The course plays to a par of 72, with back tee lengths reaching 3,309 yards. The Emerald Course, originally part of the New Hayama Country Club before being integrated in 1967, was designed by Shiro Akahoshi. It features a varied layout with tropical palm trees and includes the fourteenth hole, a par-4 that plays away from Mount Fuji toward Tokyo Bay. The Emerald Course also plays to a par of 72, with back tee lengths extending to 2,806 yards. The club opened in 1963 with an initial 18 holes, expanding to 36 holes in 1967 after acquiring the adjacent New Hayama Country Club. The Diamond Course replaced the original western course in 1972. The facility has a history of hosting distinguished visitors, including members of the Imperial family, and has been a member of the Japan Golf Association and the Kanto Golf Association since 1974. Both courses feature dual greens, utilizing both Korean bentgrass and Bentgrass surfaces to maintain playing conditions.
