Cypress Golf Club is a 36-hole facility located in Seogwipo, Jeju Island, designed by the Dye Designs Group. The course is divided into four 18-hole loops: the West, East, North, and South courses. The design philosophy emphasizes a strategic layout that accommodates various handicap levels, aiming to provide a challenging yet enjoyable experience for both skilled players and beginners. The total yardage for the 18-hole loops is 7,213 yards, a length considered relatively long for the region due to the consideration of Jeju's strong winds. Despite the length, the course features a manageable elevation change of less than 50 meters, making it accessible for players of all ages. The terrain is characterized by strategic bunkers and hazards that provide difficulty without being overly punitive, allowing golfers to test their strategy and enjoy the game's nuances. Natural features play a significant role in the course's layout and character. The fairways are lined with seven surrounding *oreums* (cinder cones) and dense cedar forests that act as windbreaks, creating a relatively comfortable playing environment even in winter. The course incorporates 11 large bridges and 13 lakes, which contribute to the scenic water views throughout the round. Cypress is noted for its environmental approach, utilizing clean volcanic spring water for irrigation. Uniquely, the course uses Bent Grass not only on the greens but also on the tees and fairways, distinguishing it from many other courses in the area. The design integrates these natural elements to create a landscape that respects the existing environment while providing a distinct golfing experience.
