Catalina Island Golf Course is the oldest operating golf course west of the Mississippi River, originally established in 1892 as a three-hole layout. The course expanded to nine holes in the early 1900s, reached 18 holes in 1929, and was reconfigured to its current nine-hole design in 1945 following World War II. The course features five Par 4s and four Par 3s, totaling 2,100 yards.

Located in Avalon on Catalina Island, the course winds through a scenic canyon setting toward the ocean, providing striking views of Avalon Bay and the historic Casino. The narrow, challenging layout is characterized by small greens and deep bunkers that test golfers of all skill levels.

The course has significant tournament history, hosting the prestigious Bobby Jones Invitational Tournament from 1931 to 1955. Since 1967, the Avalon Men's Golf Club has sponsored the annual Catalina Island Junior Golf Tournament, which has produced notable professional golfers including Craig Stadler, Corey Pavin, and Tiger Woods, who played there at ages 4 and 14. The course's natural setting features wildlife including hawks and island foxes. A full pro shop offers club rentals and cart services.
