Bruntsfield Short Hole Golf Club is established on historic Bruntsfield Links in Edinburgh and is the last remaining club still playing over the original 36-hole short hole golf course, dating from around 1890. The club's earliest records reference 154 members in 1895. Currently, only the 9-hole winter course operates until late April, with the full course available during summer months from late April to September.

The course is designed for short hole play, requiring only short irons, wedges, and putters. Members pay no green fees and play on a walk-up basis without a booking system. The club allocates handicaps up to 36 to its members, aged 14 and over. Regular evening competitions run weekly during the summer season from 6:00 p.m.

Bruntsfield has gained recognition as a historic gem in golf's development. It holds an Open Championship tournament called 'The Inches Trophy' and has been featured in Golf Digest and BBC Travel for its significance in modern golf history. The club is situated on the Links landscape in Edinburgh, maintaining its traditional character and accessibility as a free-to-play facility.
