Brough Creek National GC is located on a modest piece of property near the Missouri River in Kansas City, Kansas, set among meadows and bluffs along a creek. The course features a 7-hole routing with 6 greens ranging from 60 yards to 140 yards in length, with all holes designed with architectural intent, thoughtful design, minimalism/naturalism, and a focus on fun. Rather than playing in a traditional manner, the club promotes match play, particularly in the HORSE format, where players can pick any hole and play to it with the goal being to pick the next hole after winning a hole.

The course was established in 2015 when Ben Hotaling and Zach Brough built the first hole in their Kansas City backyard. In May 2018, Hotaling began sharing his ideas on No Laying Up's message board, and by October 2018 had designed a full routing for the property. A GoFundMe campaign raised $20,000, with the only payback being a lifetime membership at Brough Creek National GC where they promised never to charge green fees. The course involved 550 hours of work building by hand, and was founded by Zach Brough, Evan Bissell, Mark Robinson, Corbin Mihelic, Matt Preuss, and Ben Hotaling.
