Blue Ridge Shadows is an 18-hole public golf course in Front Royal, Virginia, designed by Tom Clark. The par 72 layout plays from 5,006 to 7,315 yards across five tee options, with course ratings ranging from 68.2 to 75.5 and slope ratings from 120 to 143, accommodating all skill levels.
Set in the Blue Ridge region, the course meanders through hardwood forests featuring split fairways, double greens, and significant elevation changes. A spectacular 60-foot waterfall serves as a notable scenic feature, framing the finishing hole—a risk-reward par 4 fronted by Crooked Run Creek with the waterfall positioned behind the 18th green. The opening hole begins atop a small knoll offering panoramic views.
The course presents a fair but challenging design, balancing beauty with playability. Its landscape emphasizes the natural terrain and forest setting. Blue Ridge Shadows includes a comprehensive practice facility with multiple grass tees, a large putting green, and a dedicated chipping and bunker practice area.
The course has received numerous accolades since its 2007 opening, including recognition as one of America's best new affordable public courses and consistent rankings among Virginia's top courses.
