Bloomington Country Club is an 18-hole golf course established in 1896, making it one of Illinois's oldest chartered country clubs outside Chicago. Located in Bloomington, Illinois, the course features a traditional design characterized by rolling meadows, mature tree-lined fairways, creeks, and ponds that provide varying levels of challenge for golfers of all abilities.
The club's current layout was completed in phases: the original nine holes were established on the Bellemont estate in 1903, with a second nine holes added in 1941 after the original clubhouse burned in 1929. The course has hosted significant tournaments throughout its history, including the Illinois State Men's Amateur Championship nine times (1943, 1953, 1975, 1983, 1991, 1997, 2009, 2018, and 2023), the Illinois Open in 1980, and the Illinois State Women's Amateur Championship five times (1944, 1957, 1972, 1977, and 1989). The course's design emphasizes a classic, member-focused golf experience with strategic hazards and well-maintained grounds characteristic of traditional American country clubs.
