Blackthorn Golf Club

Blackthorn Golf Club, designed by Dr. Michael Hurdzan, opened in August 1994 and is located in South Bend, Indiana. The par 72 course stretches 7,136 yards with four sets of tees, offering a strategic layout suitable for golfers of all skill levels. The design features broad fairways framed by 94 bunkers, wetlands, ponds, and native prairie grasses, leading to subtly contoured bentgrass greens with swept-up tiers.

Upon opening, Blackthorn received recognition as the No. 4 best new public golf course by Golf Digest. Though no longer municipal as of 2015, it was previously ranked No. 1 municipal course in Indiana and No. 44 nationally by Golf Week Magazine in 2013. The course has earned a 5-star rating from Chicagoland Golf and is recognized among the top 100 women-friendly courses in the country. It has consistently won the South Bend Tribune's Readers Choice Awards for best course in the area.
