Biwanohira Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 course located in Aomori Prefecture, situated between Hirosaki and Hirakawa on the route toward the Towada Lake National Park. Designed by Shōichi Suzuki, a course architect who trained under top designers like Junichi Inoue and Osamu Ueda, the club opened in 1980. The layout is set on a hilly terrain characterized by ideal undulations and elevation changes, creating a strategic challenge for golfers. The course is divided into an outward and inward nine, each with distinct personalities. While the total yardage from the back tees is 6,613 yards, the design emphasizes strategy over length. The front nine measures 3,268 yards from the back tees, while the back nine extends to 3,345 yards. The course features a variety of par 3, 4, and 5 holes that require precise shot-making to navigate the natural contours of the land. Difficulty is measured by a course rating of 71.9 and a slope rating of 131 from the back tees. The design includes specific recommended holes for driving distance and proximity to the pin, highlighting key strategic points within the layout. The club has maintained its identity since its early days, originally known as Towada Green Country Club before adopting its current name in 1988. The current owner, Toshito Ebihara, brings a background in golf design and construction to the management of the facility.
