Birdsfoot Golf Club features 18 championship holes and 5 sets of tees with large undulating greens. The course measures 7,044 yards with a slope rating of 137, and was designed by Brian T. Ault and James Cervone Jr. Located in Freeport, Pennsylvania, the course is a Pittsburgh favorite, situated on part of Buffalo Creek Farms, which belonged to the late Alexander H. Lindsay. The course's name derives from the birdsfoot trefoil plant, which appears throughout the course as a lush, green ground cover with small yellow flowers.
The course features 18 distinct holes including four of the area's toughest par 3s that attract golfers from all over the tri-state area and challenge every club in the bag. Links-style holes on the front nine mingle with parkland beauties played out over rolling hills, with no homes marring the scenery except for the clubhouse, an old family farmhouse. Holes 11, 12 and 13 are noted as very strong: a long par 3, then a long downhill par 4 that usually plays into the wind, followed by a long uphill par 5.
