The course features bent grass fairways, natural sand dunes, and gently contoured greens that wind through gently rolling hills and naturally carved canyons, surrounded by fragrant sagebrush. The setting offers sweeping views of the Thompson River valleys and the landscape is characteristic of Canada's desert golf courses.

The course accommodates golfers of varying skill levels through five tee box options, providing both challenge and enjoyment. Notable features include the natural terrain integration with the surrounding desert environment. The course was formerly known as Sun Rivers Golf and has undergone redesign and management changes, including a redesigned clubhouse. The tranquil community setting occasionally includes sightings of resident bighorn sheep, which inspired the course's current name.
