The Preserve is a 9-hole course at Bay Harbor Golf Club featuring 3,378 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 36, designed by Arthur Hills and opened in 1997. The course rating is 36.5 with a slope rating of 143 on bent grass. Nestled into the hardwood forest hugging the Lake Michigan shore, the Arthur Hills course winds through a classic northern Michigan landscape, taking players through wildflowers, lush grass, and native wetlands filled with abundant wildlife. The golf course features many tight fairways and forced carries that demand accuracy.
The sounds of breaking waves are always within earshot, and the course finishes dramatically with a spectacular par-3 on Lake Michigan's shore. The finishing hole is a par 3 with a large green that slopes to the left and funnels balls on the right side down to the hole. The Preserve is one of three interchangeable 9-hole courses at Bay Harbor Golf Club that can be combined into three different 18-hole championship layouts, each offering distinct characteristics and routing options.
