Bantry Bay Golf Club is an 18-hole championship course with a par of 71 and a length of 6,144 yards. Eddie Hackett designed nine holes in 1975, and Christy O'Connor Jnr extended the course to a full 18-hole layout in 1997. Set in 170 acres on the shores of the famous Bantry Bay at the South-Western tip of Ireland, the course was built to championship standards.

The championship parkland course is situated above the head of Bantry Bay in West Cork, with 14 holes immediately overlooking the shore where the warm Gulf Stream first touches land on this side of the Atlantic, and splendid panoramic views across the sea and islands to the Beara Mountains, Sheeps Head and Mizen Head peninsulas. The course follows the natural contours of the countryside, with six lakes and other hazards creating breathtaking holes in the picturesque scenery.

Like a traditional links course, Bantry Bay has its share of tricky blind shots, and the wind plays a large part in determining difficulty on any given day. The course has three par 5's, four par 3's, and the remainder are par 4's. The round begins with a par three played to a green with a pond to the front left; the 9th hole is a 138-yard par 3; the back nine features a tough par four at the 12th with out of bounds on the left and a large bunker; and the 18th is a 469-yard par five.
