Arroyito Country Club is an 18-hole golf course located in Neuquén, Argentina, situated approximately 50 kilometers west of the city of Neuquén along Ruta Nacional 22. The course holds the distinction of being the first 18-hole facility in the Patagonia region and the most southern in South America. Its development was a gradual process spanning several decades, beginning with a three-hole layout in 1972 and expanding incrementally. The final nine holes were completed in 1994, allowing the club to receive official homologation from the Asociación Argentina de Golf. The course layout measures 6,274 yards from the gentlemen's tees. The history of the course is deeply tied to the Pagano family, who introduced golf to the Neuquén province in 1970. After initial practices at the Polo Club, the sport moved to Arroyito, where Hugo Crexell had developed a small urbanization that included the first three holes. Following periods of abandonment due to flooding from the Rio Limay in 1979 and 1981, and a subsequent migration of members to Comahue Golf Club, Dr. Aldo Robiglio and Ing. Daniel A. Tappatá revitalized the project. They purchased the land and expanded the layout, eventually acquiring the land between the course and the Villa de Arroyito to complete the full 18-hole configuration. The terrain presents various challenges for the average player, with the course description noting that the length alone does not fully indicate the difficulty. The layout is divided into specific sections, with the first nine holes historically referred to as the "lower holes" or "hoyos de abajo," constructed between 1982 and 1985. The course is set within a 55-hectare property, offering a distinct setting in the southern Patagonian landscape.
