Arima Country Club is a championship 18-hole course located in the expansive hilly terrain of Kobe and Sanda, Hyogo Prefecture. Designed by renowned architect Yoto Oda, the course opened in 1960 with the front nine, followed by the back nine in 1961. The layout is characterized by wide, flat fairways and large Bentgrass putting greens, which were installed in 1993 using the USGA method to ensure high-quality playing conditions. The course features a total par of 72, with the blue tees measuring 6,738 yards. The course is known for its strategic demands and undulating terrain. The front nine includes a notable par-4 second hole, the longest on the course at 457 yards from the blue tees, which carries a water hazard to the right. The eighth hole is a signature par-5 known for its S-curve shape, requiring precise shot placement to avoid bunkers and trees. The back nine presents its own challenges, starting with the tenth hole, a par-4 that plays over a large pond. The seventeenth hole features a distinctive two-tiered green, adding complexity to the approach shots. Arima Country Club has a rich history of hosting significant tournaments, including the Arima Classic Championship and the Captain Cup. The club has also been a venue for high-profile events, such as rounds played by Prince Takamado. In recent years, the course has undergone route changes, such as the modification of the out-course route in September 2025, to maintain its competitive integrity. The club is also recognized for its extensive practice facilities, including a large driving range and multiple practice greens, aiming to provide a premier environment for golfers to improve their skills.
