Originally established in 1892 as a nine-hole layout on the old Pedmore Racecourse, it expanded to 18 holes in 1909. Built on sandy soil, the course offers excellent drainage and remains playable year-round without temporary greens. The design features tree-lined fairways requiring strategic club selection, with hidden borrows on the greens adding complexity. The course contains 59 bunkers and presents both parkland and heathland characteristics.
