Cleveland Golf Club

North Yorkshire, England

Cleveland Golf Club, established in 1887, is North Yorkshire's only true championship links course and the oldest golf course in the county. Located in Redcar, the course was designed by renowned architects Old Tom Morris and Harry S Colt, with Donald Steel adding three new holes in 2000. The layout comprises 18 holes characteristic of traditional links golf, featuring natural terrain with bunkers and undulating greens typical of the links style. The course has hosted numerous prestigious events, including the English Golf Union County Finals (2007), Yorkshire County Team Championship (2011), and the Yorkshire Amateur Championship (2017). It serves as the home venue for the Cleveland Salver, an amateur scratch competition. The course is noted for its challenging conditions and quality design, with a course record of 62 set during the 2017 Yorkshire Amateur Championship. As a championship links, Cleveland Golf Club presents significant difficulty for golfers of all abilities, with the characteristic hazards and demanding layout of links golf. The club regularly hosts county and professional events and welcomes visiting parties and societies alongside its membership program.
