Established in 1903 and originally designed by Willie Park Jr., the course was redeveloped to its present configuration in 1974. Playing to 6,602 yards with a par of 72, it is England's most northerly golf course. The course is characterized by panoramic coastal views throughout, with the signature par-three eighth hole played over a cove offering vistas toward Scottish cliffs. From the tenth hole onward, players enjoy views of the Northumberland coast including Bamburgh and Holy Island castles.
